This is to inform the general public that the burial for late NAMAYA MAIBWE NG?UMBI MBIKUSITA-LEWANIKA, aka, MA-INONGE, who once held the title of MOYO-IMWAMBO (Queen) to IMUTAKWANDU (late Litunga) LEWANIKA THE SECOND is set for MONDAY, the 5thof March, 2012, at MUBANGA VILLAGE, near the Royal Village of Limulunga, with Church Service by the Church of Barotseland at Limulunga, starting??at 08:00 hours.
On Sunday, at 14 hours on the 4th?of March, 2012, the body will be moved from the Lewanika Hospital Mortuary to NAMISHUKWE HOUSE, on Lyambai road, Mongu, where it shall lie in state overnight
The late Namaya Maibwe Ng?umbi Mbikusita-Lewanika, who together with her surviving twin, Mrs Kabuba Muyunda, aka, Ma-Nawa, celebrated her their 90 years of life last year, was born on 11th?November, 1921 at Namishukwe Village, in Lukona. She was an Educationalist, specialized in Primary School Teaching, Domestic Science (Home Economics), Social & Community Work, Grassroots Mobilisation and Traditioanl Crafts Making.
The late Ma-Inonge was a Civil Society Activist. She was a founder member of orgainisations like the Young Womens? Christian Association (in Zambia, then Northern Rhodesia) and the Girl Guide Association (in Western Province, then Barotseland). At the age of 79 she started the CHEMBELE-KALIBE ASSOCIATION (CHEKA), a forum for elderly women and young women to share ideas, skills and experience.
The late Ma-Inonge was the first Black woman to join a political party (Northern Rhodesia African National Congress) in 1948. She was also the first Black woman to register as a voter in Northern Rhodesia in the early 1950s.
Apart from the fact that some of her former pupils rose to very high ranks in the Zambian Government, she has had a big impact on national service, and shall continue to do so. It is illustrative to note what her children together with late husband have achieved and contributed to national service. Their??first son, the late Mwanang?ono was a South African and American Trained Educationist, Teacher at Munali and Principal at Chizongwe and Lundazi Secondary Schools in Eastern Province.
Their second son, late Sifuniso is a Scottish Trained Professional Printer, former Chairman of Mongu Council and former MMD Western Provincial Co-ordinator. Their third son, the late Litia was an American Graduate Agriculturist, and a District Agricultural Officer in Kasempa, before becoming the Senior Chief of Kaoma, based at Naliele. After these they had four daughters, Inonge ( Educationalist & Ambassador), Mbuywana (Educationalist), Mbololwa (Educationalist) and Mwendaendi (Nurse & MBA graduate), and six other sons, Akashambatwa (Public Administrator, Political Scientist), late Mbikusita (Wamundila) (Educationalist, Economist & Ambassador), Mwananyanda (Educationalist), Kusiyo (Computer Expert & Educationalist), Sekufele (Educationalist) and Mwangelwa (MBA graduate, Financial expert).
The above siblings have earned a total of at least thirty-one university degrees, from the United Kingdom, United States of America and Canada. These university degrees are in Industrial Arts Education, Agriculture, Home Economics, Education, Child Development, Special Education, History, Political Science, Economics, Development Administration, Public Administration, Economic Development, Mathematics, Mineral Economics, Bio-Chemistry, Computer Science, Social Science Education, Pharmacology, Business Administration and Accounting. He gave birth to this education, for national development service to Zambia, over the last 40 years. The late Namaya and her husband, brought up their children to have the academic education, civic responsibility and public service drive. They have served, or continue to serve, Zambia, in cabinet and parliamentary leadership, and public servants in the Civil Service, Local Government, University of Zambia, Copperbelt University, Evelyn Hone College, Mongu Teacher Training College, Special Education Teacher Training, INDECO Limited and Zambia Consolidate Copper Mines Limited, over the last 40 years.
The late Namaya Maibwe Ng?umbi Mbikusita-Lewanika passed on 29th?February, 2012 at 09:45 hours in Lewanika General Hospital after being admitted for only two days.

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month and I?m hoping the answer to the colonoscopy question will change because women in perimenopause and menopause are more likely to die of colon cancer than breast cancer. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer worldwide and the second leading cause of death in the United States for both men and women, second only to lung cancer. But it doesn?t have to be that way ? one American dying every 9.3 minutes.
The secret I?m sharing with you now is to catch it before it turns into cancer. Colorectal cancer can be completely prevented if it is caught early.
